Join Maryrose for an immersive day at the Ballenberg Open-Air Museum, a unique destination that brings Switzerland’s rural history to life. Nestled in the picturesque Bernese Oberland, Ballenberg features over 100 original buildings, meticulously relocated from various parts of Switzerland. Each building tells a story, showing different aspects of traditional Swiss life from the 16th to the 19th centuries.


Upon arrival, you’ll start your visit with a guided tour of the museum’s diverse regions. Maryrose will lead you through authentic farmhouses with its stables and barns, alpine chalets, and village homes, sharing stories of the people who once lived there.


At Ballenberg, history comes alive. You’ll witness traditional crafts such as cheese-making, blacksmithing, and weaving, all demonstrated by skilled artisans. In interactive exhibits you can discover versatile activities to join in, offering a hands-on experience that deepens your connection to Swiss heritage.


Stroll through gardens and orchards, where you’ll see a variety of native plants and learn about traditional agricultural practices. The museum also features live farm animals, providing a glimpse into the rural Swiss way of life.


After exploring the museum, relax and savor a delicious meal at the on-site restaurant, which offers a range of traditional Swiss dishes made from locally sourced ingredients.

Holders of a Swiss Travel Pass (3 days or more) or a Saver Day Pass:
You only need to reserve your seats: CHF 40 per person for 2nd class / CHF 100 per person for 1st class (round trip reservation).
Passengers with a seat reservation can also benefit from a range of at-seat catering options: Enjoy a Breakfast Box on the outward leg and an Apero-Plate Package on the return for an additional CHF 42. All products come from local suppliers.

For travelers without any type of pass:
The journey on the GoldenPass Express costs about CHF 215 per person, including a 2nd class return ticket (CHF 132.80), seat reservations (CHF 40), and 2 onboard catering packages (CHF 42).
